Stair comparison
[November 30] This is a comparison of the stair stubs and the final stair model; it's not as detailed as the real stair (for which I don't don't have a reference), but there's enough of them that they need to be low-poly.
Another view of the stairs
[November 30] A render of the completed, but untextured, stairs. The bright white area under the stairs is physics model--it's invisible in-game, but I haven't figured out how to keep it invisible during a render.
The lantern room
[December 6] The first render of the almost completed upper tower, known as the lantern room. You can see the stairs coming up from the lower tower and the walkway around the light. It looks like the light itself might be difficult; the modeling won't be bad, but with the alpha'd windows, the glass around the bulb can't be alpha'd too--there'd be too much z-buffer fighting.
Another view of the stairs
[December 6] This is another view of the stairs, this time looking upwards. There's no railings for the stairs yet, so they look a bit scary, and the center pole is missing. Also, while the lighting doesn't show this, the stairs ARE attached to the wall!
Lantern room one
[December 14] Here's the first view of the lantern; there's still plenty of work to do on it, as it needs more supports, a bit of resizing, and some brass details. However, I'm happy with how it looks now, especially the glass prisms (even tho they aren't transparent). Happy enough that I'm considering the modeling done for now, and will start working on the textures and the UV mapping.
Lantern from below
[December 14] This is a view of the lantern from below. It looks more dramatic from this view and it's nice to see the ceiling of the room. It's a bit vert-heavy, but much of the smaller details can be filled in with the textures.
